At the entrance to the Outer Lobby of the Lok Sabha Chamber, in the Parliament House, one can see, on the left hand side, a 9-feet high bronze statue of Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan, a staunch patriot, a valiant freedom fighter, an eminent parliamentarian, an able administrator and an Outstanding statesman.  He had in him a fine pragmatism animated by the impulse of the principles of social justice, democratic socialism and secularism.  He is acknowledged as one of the makers of modern Maharashtra, having been Chief Minister of the State at a Crucial time in the State's history.  At the Centre, lie held major portfolios in the Union Cabinet with distinction and went on to become the Deputy Prime Minister of the country.  He was one of the unifiers of our country who helped in the consolidation of India.

The statue, sculpted by Ravindra Maistri, was unveiled by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri P.V Narasimha Rao on 3 May 1994.

The statue was donated by the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan, Mumbai.
